I used to think brand names made a difference until I worked for the engineers in the Pet Foods Division of a (very) large corporation.
Now, I only compare ingredients and the order in which they are listed.
I can tell you for a fact that the EXACT same (as in made in the same factory on the same day with the same ingredients) product produced as an expensive "name brand" is sold in more than one package, even as a "generic," and that food manufacturers sell product labeled in as many different ways as there are distributors for that product.
That isn't to say that all generics are as good as all brand names, but that the truly important information about a product is on the back, not the front, of the label!
