The Truth About Fish Food (Hikari Is A Wash)

My black aro does not accept any other fish food other than hikari carnivore sticks. He use to eat anything that fell in the tank but now he's grown to only eating the hakari brand sticks.

that might be a sign of "addiction". I know when i had my green terror that was something to watch out for, since if you fed them the same thing for a while they would stop eating other foods which isn't the healthiest choice. Fish need some more variety usually but if he's happy and healthy who's to argue? ;)

Oh yea, I throw in other stuff for the other cichlids in the same tank to see if he would it eat. but no luck. he only eats carnivore sticks and crickets.

did you know that Iams and science diet were two of the most heavilly fined dog food companies in the last 3 years. I've had champion bullmastiffs for years and would never let them eat that garbage. Higher cost doesn't always mean higher quality. Been feeding my guys pedigree ( thats right the cheep stuff) for over 15 years and laugh at the loosers when their dogs can't even sniff runner up! ( ha ha get it sniff )

I'm really sorry. I didn't intend to offend you at all. Guess I did.

I just thought we were having a friendly discussion on which wafers we prefer. It was simply my own personal experience and opinion. Last thing I want to do is "cause issues in defending a particular brand"

Didn't offend me. When I read it, it seemed to me that you had real issuse with what I said. I am sure that you didn't, and that I read it in the wrong tone. Some times its hard to tell how some people mean to sound on here. Its all good.

Oh heck no!! I value your opinions and in no way meant it as it seemed. I really sorry if you felt I had a problem. NOPE! It's all good. Actually what you said makes a lot of sense and has me rethinking the "corn issue" ;)

That is the difficult thing about not being able to hear a tone of voice or see someones expressions. Things can be read in so many different ways.

like what we eat is any better?
i mean...who cares
i feed hikari, tetra, wardly, osi etc. have i noticed a decline in health? no
have i noticed a decline in growth? no
have i noticed a decline in water quality? no
this is just getting rediculous now

Myself -- I will go with one of the bigger brand names -- they have more to lose if they provide poor quality than the non-brands do.

I use Tetra pro-crisps -- and the fish will go for that over any other flake I put in, I have tested this a number of times by putting both in. I feed hikari blood worms 2x a week. I have tried other blood worms (store (non) brand) and they seem to produce a big mush in the water rather than the single worms that hikarii disolves to -- so again I will use the brand-name.

Cost does not seem to be that much greater.

I don't use freeze-dried I am alergic to it, but when I used to, I still found the brand names to be more "defined", less powder.
