i have no idea where any of it came from but i REALLLY REALLY want a panther chameleon, so much so im on the verge of selling my brand new solana reef set up (like 1400 dollars worth of equipment) in order to have one.. my tank is getting me so annoyed( problem after problem) that i just wanna smash it, i also know that if i ever got the problems resolved i could stock that with stuff that would make me happy, dont get me wrong, i have only one problem left to fix (but the long term spending of this tank is gonna be more then a chameleon i am sure) i have a very big passion for reef tanks, and i know that im gonna be going somwhere in the direction of corals in my career with alot more to learn (hopefully) but this cham is calling me...

Anyways, i have been reading about them more and more each day and seeing http://www.screameleons.com/ is driving me nuts, i go to the site every night and look at them and read branching from there.. pathetic right?

the only reason i cant have both is becuase i already have 3 reef tanks and no more room in my room (which is basically a small closet with fish tanks and a bed) and im pretty sure my dad would punch me in the face if i said hey im just about ready to buy another pet and spend another 1000 dollars on it.

So what i think i need to do is ask for a poll.. to save this tank which is driving me crazy.. or continue to research these panthers and get one from that website.

what do you think.. i hope vicious fish chimes in on this becuase although i rarely wonder away from the reef forums, i see him associated with this stuff.. like ace and amph are to reefing.

i understand you cant handle them as often as alot of people think, and they arent the most crazy active animals on earth.. just something about their colors and their mellow mood that strikes me as amazing.

also this wouldnt be a "do it" and ll buy it thing, id put ALOT more research into this animal if i were to come to the decision to get one, and buy it later. Also i might just save alot of money and with alot of convincing keep the cham in another room, and maybe keep the big tank... i obviously have alot to think about so input would be much appreciated... the money isnt the problem, its just the amount of pets id have and have to take care of..

THANKS ;)! :)

i dont know a lot about chams, but VF and Chris Anderson do. it probably wouldnt cost 1000 to set up the cage tho, unless you got a really expensive panther.

first you need coral, then chameleons, what insanely colorful thing is next...tulips? :D

Hahahaha knowing me I would find a way to spend 1000 dollars on one, I spoil my fish so it would only be fair ;)! I would get the ultimate package from that site and plus the Cham would be around 500

Flowers? Unless they're underwater I don't want them haha.

I'd bet you'd get bored with the cam realy quick, and you think a reef is unforgiving? Cams have got to be one of the dumbest creatured on the planet. i had one drown in an inch of water.

I don't think I would, it's not like I can walk my fish and play with them and like I said I realize they aren't the most active guys on the planet I kinda like that. LOL I can't believe it drowned though that's nuts

Chams are not the best lizard for holding or walking around with. They are not a beginner type lizard. If you have not worked with Herps before and kept them for years, i suggest looking at your reef and working on that.
Personally, i have kept both and work with various reptiles and did work with fostering of chams from our local humane society. Trust me, stick with your Reef.
Give it time, they take years to bloom.
