well im totally clueless as too what happened in my tank of BGK's in the tank i had a few outher fish i got a pair of angel fish and i had added my male mollys and sword tails so my females could be alone a bit about 2 weeks ago neway about 3 days ago my male swordtail bit the dust didn't think anything of it the next day I had put the female molly that just gave birth i have been doing this for the last 7 months there just there long enof so the baby can grow a little and get stronger at swiming once all the female;s give birth i wait 4 days and put them all toghter again in there live bearer tank neway the female i put in there was dead bye the end of the day all my tests where comeing out perfect right where i wanted them. the next morning i woke up tested it and my nirtrate went from 0 too the highest on the test i just tested the night before. then i did a 50% water change as soon as i saw that my water chages are done with spring water totally pure verry soft what my BGK's love neway then i came home after the day out and they were all dead every last one off my fish in that tank i already miss my betta =p i am clueless anyone got any ideas and how can i prevent this happening again

Sorry to hear this BGK. That is quite a loss. I don't know anything about why the nitrate would skyrocket. Just wanted to offer my sympathy. If I come across some information, I will let you know. There may be something here in the forums. Chin up.

I would have thought tap water...... But since your using springwater, I don't know..... Something got into the water I would think. Try testing your spring water. Has any cleaning solution been used near the tank?

Truly
truly sorry for your loss. Spook (my bgk, and I ) morn your loss.

my tank

my tank was a 155 with 3 8" BGK 2 females one male i also had 2 blood red Disc's my male molly my male sword tail my 10 " pleco my beta 2 2" angel fish a powder blue gormi and about 5 or six 4 week old sword tails verry hungry fish eat the babys like its pizza too a collage student i have a duel empore penquen bio weel filter system with a UV light steralizer hooked up too a power pump filter that pumps 100 gallons an hours my uv steralized was not optimized but was steralizeing 100 gallons an hour there where live archinas plants I am unsure off that spelling so my tank was more then filtered enof for the reason of the tank was a blackwater tank. i take exceltent care of my fish 2 times a week i do a 25% water change and 2 more times a week i do a 5too 10 percent water change too keep my water as freash as possable for knife fish breeding i was being quite sussfull with geting them too lay eggs but never got the male too insemanate them i was soo close verry low salt was added too the tank i would only add 1\4 the amount for regular tropical fish every 25 % water change most of the fish lived on blood worms the BGK's where moved one a week into the baby live bearer tank for 24 hours for a feast fest i am clueless i was sure i did everything right.

Strange. I'd say a big dose of some toxin. I hope you find out what. All the best to you.. :sad

Windex? Have you rested the windex bottle on top of the tank? A leak could do it.

no never
