Sorry to hear about that, I had a similar crash a few months ago. I was lucky enough to get home shortly after the crash and remove the survivors before I lost too many fish. I never figured out what happened, and after a few days, it just went a way.

I wouldn't bet that it (the spring )was being monitored...especially if something people are just walking over and hooking a hose up to. You think things like that are, but I have seen things like that and community sewers too, way out of compliance and it doesn't get fixed until people notice and complain. If you dad is a chemist he'll know what to do. For the Navy..sounds cool.

I agree - many types of water are not tested regularly. Also just because the people drinking from the water have no symptoms....doesn't mean there is nothing there. The level at which a toxin can kill a fish is relatively small relative to a human And actually private aquifers and wells are notorious at having agricultural spills and bacterial/algae blooms that go unnoticed because they are not as regularly tested as municipal (city) water.

IMHO from an epidemiologic perspective - the probability is very low that the water is the culprit - if your friends are using the same water in their tanks and they change their water regularly (as you did yours). However it is still possible (just not probable), and I would offically request a water test. But definitely spend time thinking and looking elsewhere.

cold water

no i dought it was that seeing that the angels the dicus and the BGK's atually love it they all fight over who the cold water hits they love it and been doing it now about 4 months so whats 4 rainy seasons and just now they died? besides i was in my second week off my off season

Could someone have sprayed for bugs while you weren't there? Bug spray can be real toxic to birds & fish.
