Green Terrors are kind of green, but they're no terrors unless spawning. Don't try the same thing with either fish commonly sold as a Red Terror, as they deserve the "Terror". I know of a very large Green Terror that is the centerpiece in a 45 gal tank with a bunch of community fish. The fish is almost 8". Nothing small enough to swallow, and no problems with aggression. The fish is pretty well behaved in regards to the live plants as well.

Two things... Firstly, GTs tend to get nastier as they mature; about 8" seems to be the point at which things can change... BUT... each fish is an individual. Secondly, what most people own are saums, either white or gold. The original Green Terror is available, but is pretty rare in the hobby, and it deserved its name!

It may sound crazy. I am currently housing one angle in a tank full of giant CAs including three 8" to 10" GT and one 10" Synspillum. The giant CAs may bluff at one another, but never bother the weakly angle fish.

I place the angle among the giants by accident as my friend moved and asked me to take care of his lone fish. But I only keep big cichlids so I had no choice but to house him among the giants. I didn't expect the angel to survive, but the CAs ignored him right from the start. In fact, the angel fish scared himselves by hiding behind rock and scratching himself in the first couple weeks before coming out of hiding . He has been thriving among the giants for a year and never even miss any of fin. I guess the angle looks so different from the giant CAs that they don't see him as a threat.

Attached are pictures for the proof.

BTW, GTs are very peaceful big cichlid. As long as you don't put any female among the males to breed, they may bluff at each other but never get into serious fight. I keep several big male GTs in a small 75 gal with no aggression.

I have a pair of beautiful large silver angels in my eartheater community tank and they get along fine... In fact the angels never get picked on and are often the bullies, even chasing my 15 cm heckalii, steindacneri and braziliensis...
