:dance::dance:YAY!!!! after months and months of speculation and false starts, messing around with water parameters, my GORGEOUS Discus have spawned tonight!!! They have spawned in the species tank, so I have had to remove the other Discus for the time being. Is there anything that I can do to increase mortality of the fry? Also, how soon before they are wrigglers, free-swimming etc? I promise pictures if they survive.:dance::dance:

You don't wanna increase mortality! =P You want to decrease it! But, hatch baby brine shrimp, and feed it to them. If you can (and I imagine you have if you have discus?) grind beefheart up very very tiny.

Like most fish, Discus fry will be wrigglers anywhere from 2 days to 4 days after the Eggs are laid. In another ~48hours, they'll be free swimming. The parents will usually take care of them, and the fry will rip off bits and peices of the parents flesh, which is softened up by the parent discus (this stuff was thought of as a "mucus" before, but has been found to be slimy flesh). You can supplment their feedings with baby artemia (brine shrimp). If you want ALOT of information on Discus, rearing fry, etc, check out www.simplydiscus.com . Alot of breeding gurus hang around there. Goodluck!
