thick purple and bright green algae, HELP

what is BGA? new to plants here... when you say bacterium, not bad for the fish bacteria right?
what causes it? I think the bulbs are 32W each

bga is blue green algae. It appears like a thick slimy green film and can choke out plants. Mostly occurs in low flow spots, low nitrates and just a tank that wasnt taken care of.

the tank gets regular water changes, 30% or so. Prime.... dont know... the fish are great, growing fast...

Interesting. Could be a purple photosynthetic bacterium, but more likely it's just an oddly-colored cyanobacterium. Try increasing water change size and/or frequency.
