I've been dealing with a smallish ich outbreak for the last week with the heat/salt + water changes method. Today, my betta, who was previously covered in little white specks is free of it. When I turned the room lights out to go to bed (the tank is on timer) the betta was swimming around flaring at his reflection in the glass. Despite his fins looking a little ragged from when I got him, he looked incredible. Seeing him acting like that gave me such an awesome feeling. :D

Looking at my tank tonight, watching the tetras chase each other, and the corys bonk and skid into things, and the betta flaring at his reflection... I suddenly see why so many of you love this hobby so much.

*crawls back into bed*

g'night :D

uh, do you own an iguana?

random question, yeh, but i love lizards (most animals actually). Unfortunantly my college doesnt allow anything but fish (which is still good). Ive sneaked in 2 praying mantis and have them living on the bonsai i have in my room.

bit of a radnom tangent....

anyways
thumbs up with the ich care, i hope it doesnt happen again. Ive been lucky enough not to get anything yet (knock on wood).

No, no leeeezards. I just fell in love with that little guy at a pet store in Grande Prairie. He was going just nuts for crickets. Pretty sure its not an iguana though. Anyway, its a pretty poor quality picture since it was taken with a phone.

I need a bigger place if I want to get more creatures. A chameleon and a mouse (not together) are on my wish list, along with a bigger tank or too :D

LOL I'm seriously getting into this 'fish' thing too. Now I'm on rescue missions from walmart...geez.

Things are swimming along, its easier than I imagined at the start. So, far my tank is healthy, and I'm planning a bigger one with some fish transfers from the 25 gallon.

Nice to hear your battle is won, Indigo. Good news is always welcomed, whomever has some to share.

chameleons rock. Id go for a vield chameleon, they're the easiest to take care of, and take that with a grain of salt because all chameleons are increadibly hard to care for.

Do not go for a jacksonian chameleon, they're impossibly hard to raise and unless you have no job you most likely wont have time for it. They can eat upwards of 50 crickets a day....although it isnt advised to give them that much. Most people feed them around 5-10 large a day

The highlights of my trips to Grand Prairie are spending hours and hours at the pet store. Gotta stop at the furball corner and play with the puppies, then hold a hedgehog, the play with the kittens, then wander back to the fish and reptile room. Last time I was there they had a big African cichlid tank *drool* and another tank with ~5 chameleons. I just stood in front of their 'tank' and counted, then recounted, then counted them yet again. Then I go look at all the fishies and other leeezards :D Ahh eventually when I settle in a city for more than a year, I'll get a house and turn it into a private zoo :D Oh scrap that, gotta be in the country so I can have a couple horses too ;)

I ended up adopting 6 "feeder" goldfish from my friend's dad. He built a little Christmas village and put a lake in the middle. He thought it would be cute to put some little goldfish in it. The guy at the pet store told him that they would live about 2 weeks. Five years later I have 5 of them in a 75 gallon tank with 3 of their babies and in another 5 gallon tank off to the side I have 2 more of their babies. I have to admit that I love these guys. When I got back from my vacation they were actually happy to see me. The difference in their attitude was noticable. They were practically dancing in their tanks. I never thought I would say that fish have personalities.

Everybody thinks I'm crazy until I show them a picture of my fish lined up along the front of the tank waiting to get their picture taken. They have actually done that twice. They also like to watch tv. Their favorite channel is EWTN. Go figure.
