Thinking about getting out of plants, why should I stay?

I agree with slappy. Get a few slow growers (Java Fern, Anbius, ect). No need for high lights, no need for CO2, maybe trim once every year or two--and you can still keep your present fish.

PS--Fronts need very big tank, eats more, grow fast, need more water changes---Not much of a trade off.

not a bad trade-off... a nice tank for good meals and clean skivvies :grinno:

I s'pose I'm in the minority...I'd take fronts over a planted tank in a heartbeat if I had the budget. But it's your choice and if you want to stay with plants you can most definitely create a visually appealing tank with just low maintenance plants.

Here is my minimal planted tank. Working on trying to find the answer for the yellow leaves and holes on the amazon. Think I need a better fertilizer. Other than water changes, I do relatively nothing for the rest of the plants. I am relying on my livestock to help fertilize.

25 cardinals
20+ marble hatchets
unk Moscow guppies
unk RCS
unk green babaulti
unk spixi snails
24 bronze cories +2 fry
10 BN fry

It looks better in real life. I have a cheap camera.

excuzzzeme, just trim off all the damaged leaves and feed that sucker some root tabs.

Seriously, just stay with slow growing plants. The plants make the tank as close to nature as possible for your fish and they definably appreciate your time and efforts, even if they can't say so. And it looks so much nicer than fake plants too.
