Thinking of making angelfish tank...

I have been thinking of keeping a pair of angelfish in a 29 gallon long tank that i have had for awhile, but is currently empty.

Thing is i want some attractive tank mates for them. I have never kept angels before and I was just wondering what some good tank mates for angels would be.

Angels are better suited to taller tanks rather than the long tanks just because of how they are built physically.
Also, one pair of angels is all you will realistically be able to put into that 29, other than a few cories maybe for the bottom.
If you end up with a mated pair, then they will be aggressive to just about any other fish you try to put in there.
How many inches high is the 29 long?
You could maybe just have 1 angel in that tank and then have a small group of cories for the bottom and as for other fish, I've had success keeping rummynose tetras, harlequin rasboras, gouramis etc with my angels. Most of the larger tetras(meaning bigger than neons) may do well, as long as they are not nortorious for being bad fin-nippers.
Wait to find out what other people suggest and go from there.

My 29 is about 13" tall. I figure the angels, if i get them small, will be comforatble for a time.

Also, I know they will be aggressive to most mid to upper range fish. I was thinking of lots of cover and have some good lower bottom dwellers

Are you sure it's 13" tall? I'm not saying you are wrong, you could very well be right, it is your tank after all. Just wondering because the only 29 I know of is 18" tall (30"x12"x18").

But anyway, its an older style tank, made by perfecto. I replaced the hood a long time ago and im in the process of redoing the silcon seal around the inside edge.

hehe, when i first bought it, it was a steal. Lady sold me the tank, hood, and an emperor 280 filter for 25 bucks.

A standard 29 gallon tank dimension should be 30 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 18 3/4. That is ~18 inches heigh.

I have 2 angels in my 29 gallon tank. I had them for over year now without any problems. 29 gallon tank's height is ideal for angels.

Problems with angels.

Hi,I have 33gl.tank with 4 angels and it looks like they are 2 couples. I also have 2 pleco and 4 cories and 4 guppies running around. Finally after long battle with characters incompatibilities I could see the light...But now after i was moving them from tank to tank they got overstressed. My other angel just died supposedly from ick. it was 2 year old angel, black and beautiful, but got multiple white cyst/acne looking eruptions over "his face", which affected one of his eye leading it to look like a huge eye abscess.Multiple treatments with "quick cure","Melafix" and "Pemafix" ended with one of the angels long tail cracked @waist a little bit(i thought it would fall off. not yet) and 2 had cloudy eyes. Affected ones got 1hr bath with high salt concentration, melafix and pemafix(its for fungal and bacterial infection), next day their eyes were clear, but other 2 got cloudy eyes.
i thought i would give other ones the same bath too. i dipped them just in my 5 gl container where i mix my water for water changes. my concern that angel with the cracked waist at the beginning of the tail. What are his chances? i do not want to treat so aggressively my whole tank. it already survived intensive treatment ffor 7 days while that angel was dying. This tail is fragile and frequent moves for the bath could be detremental.
Anybody can give me advice?
My filtration system is more what this tank actually needed. (Fluval3 andAqua tech30-60).

I don't know where to start....wait, yes I do....Who in the world told you to "dip" your fish in a high salt concentration bath? The stress alone could kill it.

Here's what you need to do. Water changes to remove any left over meds (from what I hear they are mostly crap anyway.

Go to the article section here at AC and read up on ich. Once you understand the cause you will understand how to treat it. It basically involves adding salt (not a ton) and raising the temp. Ich is a microorganism with a multi-stage life cycle. Treating the parasites attached to the body is ineffective.

I'm serious about naming the troll that gave you the dipping advise. PM me if you don't feel like broadcasting it.
