My husband and I were thinking of starting over from scratch on our tank - the plants we have are doing ok, but we aren't thrilled with the aquascaping and the driftwood is slowly getting thinner and thinner (thanks to our pleco eating it).

Since we are starting over anyway, should we change any of the following:

We have an all glass cf light fixture - 110 watts (2 bulbs, 55 watts each), 8000k.

Injecting CO2 with a tank from a local gas co, a Milwaukee MA957 CO2 regulator, a Milwaukee SMS 122 pH/CO2 Controller (set to 7.0), and a PGP Power Reactor CO2 system.

Fertilize with Seachem's line - using their dosing chart.

I know the substrate is a problem - just gravel. That's one of the reasons why we want to start over so badly... What would you suggest?

Anything else we are missing?

I assume you are referring to the 46 gallon tank. The ph controller set at 7 may not be doing anything for you. You really need a drop checker to know how much co2 you have. Do you know how many bubbles per second your co2 is putting out? You can do ok with regular gravel if you do the right fertilizers. But if you want better substrate, then Flourite or Ecco Complete are both good ones. Read this link for more about ferts:
