This common Pleco is about 12 years old...

Hey shar, just curious, how big are your balas, and how long have you had them? I'm trying to figure out how quickly they grow and am not having much luck!
 
how big is the pleco?

I have one in my 55g that is 13" and is 15 years old (we dont have a tank for him)

After having a fish for 15 years, it is so hard to take him to the LFS where he will be killed :(

Holly,
We got the balas late September at the time they were mostly the same size proably a couple of inches.
It's been incredible to watch them grow- I think the biggest one is about 5 inches long and and they go down from there, like those little russian wooden dolls they go big to small.

I'm glad we have them, they are fun to watch and they get along great with all the other fish.

I'll try and post pics of them if I can.

I think this guy is about as big yours, he's in a 55 gallon and seems to be happy. Do you have to take it to your lfs?
