im stuck between getting 1 male bristlenose pleco or 2 female bristlenose pleco, or 3 otto's for my 20 gallon tank. im in the process of cleaning and stocking everything, including plants. any idea what i should get? i would really like their alage eating skills to keep the glass clean.

my adult Bristlenose looked cramped in my 20 gallon, so i moved him to our 30. I would go with otto's.

Yeesh. How about parking the egos at the door?

IMO, reading the signature when it lists the fish in question and the question is about those fish would be a good thing.

I'm rather wondering how good a zebra pleco would be in a 10 though.
Our LFS has a donated zebra pleco that's 3 years old, 5" tip to tail and -broad-. Pretty big for a 10gal. Plus, saying a fish won't "grow that big" in a particular size tank just means you're stunting it's growth with inadequate care. NOT a good thing.

well, i'm pretty sure both male and female bristlenoses are territorial, and you need to feed them lettuce and algae flakes as well. in the end, bub, it's your choice, though if you get a female bristlenose just get 1, to be on the safe side.

sorry 'bout my ego :o, I just hate it when people assume things. I read in a catfish book that said that they grow to be four inches, though, you're the one with the pleco! she will be my only bottom feeder, so i'm sure she'll have enough room.(P.S. I already orderd her.)

.

Your absolutely right, i just missed it. I'm human, stuff happens. In actuality all i wanted was to not see a fish that i felt was compatible with the tank be saved. But then to get attacked twice afterwards is just ridiculous. But the internets "safety" creates alot of tough guys..see the thing is old rd wouldn't have the guts to say that too me in real life..so he comes on here and pretends to be a tough guy. O well i'm done with this thread, i have no more time for rd and his ilk.
