this is a dumb question

i don't think that the salt is ruined but you should try cruching it before trying to add it to the water. if that doesn't work then yes i would buy new salt.

hello all.

I dumped that last batch of water and tried again. This time, no problem... the salt instantly dissolved into the water with no problem.

I think I found my mistake from the last time. All the other previous times I mixed the salt in while I had my powerhead running. The last time I didn't have the powerhead running when I dumped the salt in. it was about 5 minutes after I dumped the salt in that I got my powerhead in there and running.

I think that was the problem. This time, I also stirred the first few minutes to ensure it mixed. Must have just been a bad initial mix the previous time. I thought this was wierd! Problem solved and I feel like an IDIOT. Cool. Thanks for your help AC crew.
