around where I live we hve spiders that will take down people's dogs, there about the size of a dinner plate and weigh about 3 pounds.

the worst part is ther NOT NATIVE!!!!!!!!, some one illegaly brought a shipment in they escaped, took him out in his sleep and escaped, and though scarce, they make their presence known.

OMG, I'm in Houston too! I haven't heard of this! What the heck kindof spider is it? GAH! I HATE spiders. We've found a black widow on our fence once and we have wolf spiders all the time. They freak me right out. My husband used to always tell me that they're harmless. I read different online and told him about their "painful bite" and how it says you should rush to the emergency room. He's not convinced, but he is more diligent about spraying now. And yeah, why did I click on this story when I already have insomnia tonight? :duh:

This whole story is from a tabloid, and imo tabloids are made for people with small minds. They write whatever they think will sound the most interesting. I wouldn't worry much about their "views" on any subject.

Well I guess they got us all talkin around the water cooler which is exactly what they wanted. Who cares, its fun.
My son was bitten by a black widow when he was 13ish. (yes its true_I saw it between his fingers and no he did not pick it up). Took him to the ER, they gave him tylinol and watched him for a hour or so. They said unless you are very young,very old or in bad health -It won't kill you ..just could hurt like an SOB. Hey they were all "wild" animals doing what wild animals do...eating to survive. A word to the wise.....

well take a look at this guy, from my back porch, have no idea what kind it is but cute as a bug

Web similar to that of a widow, but this guy likes it higher up. One rule, spyders and bugs not allowed in sleeping, eating, general living areas, but fine outside.
