ok i have a 10 gallon set up and there is a towel under it to protect the furniture.

the towel sticks out on all sides from the botom of the tank.

the other day i noticed the towel was damp all around the entire tank and i thought that the bottom had cracked but was still intacked
so i was going to upgrade to a 20 or 30 gallon (see if the wife notices)

then i wanted to try something i had change my airstone to a round one from the normal cylinder shape a few months ago and i kept noticing that this stone the round ball like one would allow more bubbles to escape the water wetting the hood and i didn't like that

so just to check i change the stone back to the old one and the next day the towel is dry so i dont know if it was the water building up on to the rim and lid of the tank but it is kind orf strange.

I would deffently change out the towl. There is more then likly mosture trapped under the tank. This will start to rot and that towl would have not done its job but made it worse. Sounds like you found the culprate to the problem water was being bubbled out and towle works as a wick.

yeah ok see if i can get it out
take most of water out then pull towel out right
