This isn't a discus, is it?

I picked up a free 20g + fish earlier this week. There's a 3-4" angel, a 6" pleco, a little bristlenose pleco, and this guy:

The previous owner said he was a discus, but he doesn't resemble any discus I've seen. Granted my experience with them is very, very limited, but I've not seen one like this. Anyone care to ID him? Is he ok with the warm temps and soft, acidic water that the angel needs? They don't fight.

Definitely not a discus.

Does it have a black stripe through its eye? Sort looks like it does. Looks like a specie of silver dollar to me, hypsauchen, but it's hard to see its anal fin. If that's what it is, its a schooling fish and doesn't belong in a 20g.

It can grow anywhere from 4" to 10" or more depending on what species it is and they all school AFAIK, so definitely not a 20g fish.

It's a silver dollar, I would know those buggers anywhere

Not only is that fish no good for a 20 gallon tank, none of your fish are good for a 20 gallon tank.(except if you keep one angel)

The owner was moving and didn't want to put the fish through the trip. My girlfriend wants to keep them, but I had plans to sell/give them away and make the tank into something else. We'll see who wins. :) In the meantime, aren't silver dollars herbivores? The angelfish seems to take most of the food.

Call me crazy, but I've kinda taken a liking to the pleco. I know they get big (really big) but it seems that at only 6 inches he has plenty of room to turn around. How much longer can he get without it being too stressful? The owner did not have any algae wafers to feed him, so I plan on picking some up today unless someone has a different idea.
