a jellybean parrot is a cross between a male convict and a female blood parrot.
in the beginning, the only reason they were bred was to be dyed since they could be dyed at an earlier age then BP's and more of them survived the process. lately though, more and more people have wanted undyed versions, so "normal" jellybean parrots have been showing up more and more. still, undyed versions of both blood parrots and jellybeans can be hard to find in some areas.
jellybeans are not sterile and will breed as much as convicts, which is what makes some fishkeepers uneasy. they are afraid that if the fertile jellybeans get into breeder stock, they will contaminate the pure bred cichlids and their cons, red devils, etc. may not be true to their species.
