This makes me mad...Advice?

Quote me if you may Ashk, but the fact remains here in the USA that there are no laws protecting these fish. I do agree it is wrong but us as consumers have little or no voice when it comes to these situations. The best advise I have, and yes I think it is good advise is to let it go. Don't dwell on things you really can't controll. The best thing you can do is to stop funding this stores wrong practices (stop going there and spending your money.) Spend your time and money on a more positive experience.

Now on to the chain store bashers....look at my gallery most of my fish were bought from Petsmart! I have some very beautiful fish and have not placed hardly any of them in QT. Not all chain stores are run as well as others and it is impossible to not get sick fish shipped sometimes. I am sure the stores are doi9ng the best they can with the knowledge and resources they have. That being said is it right, maybe not but it may be all they know!

What about the win a goldfish at the carnival or the bettas in vases at the bank, or what about the fish farms where quite a few of the fish you may have come from?

All US business are required to have inspection on their live animals and also to have a license to sell. Simply going to your local agency that issues licenses and filing a complaint is a good start. You will also need to file with fish and game or the appropriate agency. Unless there are repeated complaints there will be little if anything, done about this. You can try the local SPCA and if nothing else, they can tell you whom to call.

A letter and a phone call to the company headquarters citing SPECIFIC location, time, date, store #, and a brief description of problem is also warranted. Don't be a whiner by being general, be specific and polite in your complaint. Keep your complaint well organized and do not wander off on some general tangent.. Be factual, not opinionated.

After submission of facts, allow for time for the news to reach back to the store in question and then follow-up. If correction is made, it would be appropriate to send a note of thanks.
