I think that helps create an ideal environment for a fun psych study. Both choices are seemingly identical, so why pick one over the other? What makes people decide to pick the top or bottom one? More people are choosing the top one than the bottom one, showing a slight bias in preference. I chose the bottom one because I like to root for the underdog, as I figured prior to voting that the top choice would out number the bottom choice 2-1. Seems I was a little off, but the point remains that people are showing a preference for the top selection, regardless of the fact that both are identical.

You can also choose both and this hardly has the makings of a psychological experiment.

I did not vote but I sure wish you would change it. It seriously does hurt your eyes or it does mine anyways. And when you make or respond to a thread I normally scoot right past yours because it is distracting and I don't even read what you have wrote.(Sorry)JMO

Edit: I'm not sure this was the OP's intent, I just thought it was a fun notion.

Actually yes, this was somewhat my intention. I gave people the choice to pick one or both options just to see if a collective bias would be formed toward any particular choice. It wasn't a psych experiment, but more of personal curiosity. The bottom option was winning by several points for a while, but that has since shifted. I thought it would average a tie since I gave the choice to pick them both. I wish I would have given more "crazy" choices now.

I don't know which is more annoying the avatar or a thread about the avatar.
i say we reset the poll
and vote for removal

I don't exactly find it nice to attack the thread like this. It's not obscene or inappropriate in any way (at least not that I have noticed). If you think so, by all means close the thread, but I can't see that as being justifiable. Don't worry though, I don't offend easily, and I certainly wasn't out to offend anyone else.

This comment is fine. If you feel this way, that is OK with me. It's of little inconvenience to me who decides to read my posts. I personally don't understand how a picture like this can totally distract concentration from a reply in a thread, but I guess if it does, you won't notice this :raspberry::silly::crazy:
;)

I do plan on changing the avatar (probably soon), but not now. I haven't grown tired of it yet. Obviously, this picture deserves special recognition considering the controversy it has the power to create. How about I make a thread with a poll to see who wants me to change;)

Anyway, polls here don't lie folks. Crazy is in the lead.

Haha, I wasn't trying to suggest you'd submit it to harvard or anything, or even that you'd necessarily get any real data out of it, mostly just a fun look into the way people think. I was unaware that both were capable of being selected at once, which kinda kills my idea, but still brings an interesting dynamic to the "experiment." I think it would be interesting to know why people chose whichever (or both) selection they went with.
