Thos tiny snails for food loosed in aquarium good/bad idea?

I have a puffer that needs live food and tiny snails are one source. VetSmart gave me 5 free about the size of a popcorn kernal. Supposedly they multiply quickly. Anyone know if its a bad or good idea before I loose these tiny snails that multiply into my 80 Puffer/molly tank? Are they good food for they puffer?

they are a fine food source. I would recommend setting htem up in their own small breeding tank though so they don't get wiped out before they get a chance to establish. This way too you can monitor and control your puffer's feedings better.

Yeah, someone did mention gorging. I don't suppose a floating breeder would work with those tiny guys. What are their requirements? I mean do I have to have the whole pinata? Do you think they would do OK in my Goldie tank or would the Goldies suck them up? How about my 60 Oscar tank, they would ignore them right?

Will I have an explosion or is it manageable with netting?

goldies and oscars both would likely eat them as well. You don't need "the whole shebang" to raise pest snails. You can set up a small tank or even a tote with an airstone. They do not require a heater unless you have a super cold house. You do not need superior filtration. Water changes will help them to reproduce then just simply feed them (a high quality diet would be best if you are using them as feeders).

Bless your hart msjinkzd, thanks!

Ill try and use my QT 12G Sterilite container 1/2 full. My house temp without heat in winter averages 65-72F, What do I feed them, fish foods with liquid vitamin drops? Can i put in a chuck or just barely enough like feeding fish? Do you know if they are A-sexual or mate, don't know if I have sex's hoping the ladder?

Ill try and use my QT 12G Sterilite container 1/2 full. That will be perfect. My house temp without heat in winter averages 65-72F, That should be fine. They will reproduce faster with the slightly warmer temps but they can survive just fine in those temperatures. What do I feed them, fish foods with liquid vitamin drops? Just fish food is fine. Can i put in a chuck or just barely enough like feeding fish? You don't want the water quality to be really bad but feel them amply and htey will reproduce faster. Do you know if they are A-sexual or mate, don't know if I have sex's hoping the ladder?
They are asexual and should reproduce for you.

most snails are really easy to care for. if you want larger snails then a would recommend going to a pond and pulling them out of the mud. Thats what i did. they are now happily living in a betta tank and every once in a wile i give my goldfish a treat. they seem to love snails for food.
