I have been looking at the tetra trac filters lately, and like the design/cocept of these. does anyone have experience with these and how well do they work? When I asked the woman at the LFS what she thought of them she simply said that she hadn't tried them herself, but that they never had them returned, so she thought they might be fine.

Talked to the owner of a LFS that I trust and he had one set up in his store for a couple of months. Essentially speaking he said the filter was decent enough, but don't even bother with the heater. He said from what he could tell the water rushed by the heater too fast to really pick up any consistant heat and that he had problems getting a steady temperature with it. Other than the heater though for a HOB filter it does seem fairly interesting.

cost too much noisy, prebably dosent work as well as the regulars-AC or Emps.

Thanks Hound and Blitzen, the primary thing that interested me was the heater could go in the filter. If the heater isn't all that great, I'll stick to my emp's and AC's. I had also tried to figure out a way to put a heater in one of these other filter, and haven't come up with a good idea yet. May be that it's time for me to learn about cannisters or build a trickle filter Or just do as always and stick a heater on the back wall of the tank. I already have two filter intakes and the riser tubes for my RFUG back there, so it's not like it will be the only thing in view.

have not used a tetra tec was interested in those though I have used whisper 2's forever never had one fail had one get broke while moving is the only thing and they are old bought them for 20 dollars a piece and 3 cases of media hehe. But the thought of hiding my heater, and only haveing intake tubes in the tank is a good idead those things are so hard to hide.

Have one in the basement. Noisy, bulky. Heater went out soon after I bought it, but Tetra replaced it without a question. The whole wet/dry thing is unnecessary and makes a god-awful slurping noise.

That being said, I can give you a gopd deal on one;)

Thanks Mogurnda, I doubt I'll own one with the rave reviews it gets here, I'm already scheming about new ways to hide my visitherms.

I had the pf-150 and it slurped like a toilet flushing! I liked the fact it sent water in two directions but the noise made my gf want to ove out. I reccomend a Emperor instead of penguins as the bio wheels will not stop flowing b/c they have a spray bar to always keep them moving.
