threadfin rainbow

That is a great video, I like the plants in the tank. I hope yours do well.

yep, but the video isnt taken by me. just found it in google. :)

do they flare to show a sign of aggression. kinda like a betta??

They don't flare anywhere as much as I think they should. In fact, I've seen mine do it only a handful of times (my celebeses on the other hand, are another story).

Be prepared for them to be very picky eaters. They're mouths are so tiny that they can't eat larger things very well.

They are beautiful, though. You just have to look up close to see it.

What size tank are they in and what's in with them?

@leopardess yep, i feed them tetramin (sera) flakes. they seem to like it. only had them today though.

I just gave 10 of them to my brother. :) my tank is 35gals moderately planted tank

10 threadfin rainbows
3 cardinal tetras
1 neon tetra
2 albino cories
2 bristlenose pleco
4 juveniles rosy barbs (planning to return them or give them away)
4 angelfish juvies
4 pristilla tetra (freebie by the seller )

overstocked?? hehhehee

@leopardess

went to your site. Your threadfins are very beautiful. :) hopefully mine will get as nice as yours. just set mine in today. I'll post mine as soon as i figure out my digital cam. i'm rather unskilled in picture taking.

day two:

the threadfins are settled in. they don't look so bad after all. :) the coloration is showing already.. the reddish and black fins. the glowing shine on their eyes are cool, but cant compare with cardinals though.

still hardly flares. :P

I got a threadfin yesterday, health looks fine, but it hasn't eaten yet.
I've put in a few TetraMin Tropical Flakes and it doesn't even chase them...

Any other foods I should try or give him another day (bought him yesterday)?

I suggest you add more if space permits. Threadfins like their company. Any food will be taken when the threadfin becomes settled. You bought it only yesterday so it still needs time before it becomes acclimated to your tank.
