Thisarticle tells about these fish. A man made fish, reportedly using selective breeding(although local rumors tell of hybridization). What do you think? Ive yet to catch one, or the cousin "lightning trout", but I hear they fight sumthin terrible. The lake has no natural waterways connected to it, so the chance of them migrating to native waters is slim to none. Thier light coloration, paired with thier liking for warm water(thus residing higher in the water column) make them easy to fish for anglers and raptors alike.

Wish we could have those down here. I lived in central Ca. when I was a kid and remember catching rainbows and cut throat trout. Awesome fight for their size.

Splake are hybrids. Lake trout crossed with speckled trout.

Personally, I'm against this type of thing unless it's controlled properly and it usually isn't and probably not possible.

There are a couple of lakes in Algonquin Park in Canada that are overrun with splake that some camper threw in.
