Tiger barb harassing my angel, how do I fix the problem?

Tiger Barbs have the reputation of being fin nippers..as a result, they should be kept with fish that can defend themselves from them..fish with long flowing fins seem to be a particular target. I have kept barbs with ramsn and no issues other than the rams picking on the barbs..especially spawning pairs.if it were me..I'd move the barbs...
if you rehome the angel you will need a fairly large-medium tank.

If you want active schooling fish with your angel, look into cherry barbs. They're much smaller than tiger barbs, but they're very active swimmers, they chase each other, and they aren't aggressive to other fish IME.

I think you can see the general agreement is they need to be seperated............ We all learned a little the hard way with each of our tanks....

I knew they were rather aggressive but thought having 9 of them will not be an issue. I will have to get rid of them.
does anyone know Petco's return policy? I know I can return the dead ones but the live ones I am not sure.

Petco will take them back but I couldn't get a trade for the Oscar that I took back but I had him for two years.

Try seperating the one barb... if it does not work then move to plan b... seperate the angel...

as for a new center piece... an African Brown knife fish? I had one of those.. they are docile but can get more aggressive than the barbs. They grow about 8 inches i believe.

or how about a ...... discus?

a discus would only work in a larger tank and water conditions need to be near perfect. Although the brown ghost knife is a cool fish, only works if the angel goes. putting the barbs in a different tank or getting rid of the angel are really the only options unless you suddenly heavily plant the tank and accept the angel hiding all the time.
