My tiger barb has ick. He's isolated away from the other fish, but to be honest, I've never had a fish with ick before. What works? One of those chemicals you can buy at the store, a special type of salt?

I read the article, maybe I missed something, but I didn't seem to read if you should treat the original tank for ich also. My tiger barb is out of the original tank, but there are still a few others in there that don't seem to show any of the same signs or have the bumps. Should I treat that as well, or not?

Best to treat the main tank as well. Even if the other fish aren’t showing signs (yet) the ick is there. It would be counter productive to put a treated fish right back into untreated tank, it will just get ick all-over again.

Yes, you do need to treat the original tank AND the tank the barb is now in. You need to treat for a full 2 weeks.

Within a few hours of treatment the spots on my tiger barb have gone away. Even though I still need to treat, to get rid of all of it. I'm just wondering if visual symptoms usually heal that quickly.

That becomes a matter of timing and severity of ich infestation. More timing than anything else.

I'd put the tiger barb into the main tank and just treat the main tank for the ich. Leave the hospital tank barron for 4 days and it will be cured of ich (no fish starves the ich out in 4 days). Salt the main tank to cure it. The tiger barb needs to be with its pack otherwise it just becomes very stressed out and could catch secondary infections.
