not sure if this is the right place on the forum to post this.

ive got a question about one of my tiger barbs. we've had him for a long time, and just last weekend we switched from a 20 gal to a 55 gal. everything seems to be fine with the pH as we've been testing it almost every day. just today i noticed he is paler than normal, and he isnt swimming around, hes just swimming in one spot, at a semi-downward angle. i dont see any physical signs of disease, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong, and if so how to fix it?

i read somewhere else online that tiger barbs tend to eat too much and it could be that he is constipated...not sure if thats the case.

thanks.

Did you cycle the new tank? Transfer over media/filtration from old tank? What are ammonia, nitrites and nitrate readings on the new tank?

we transfered over almost all the water from the old tank, and the plants and decorations we had in the tank also.

im new to the whole aquarium thing, but we did buy test strips and have been using them and they seem to be fine, we also have gone to the local pet store a few times to get the water tested and they said it was fine also. we just started using the 'cycle' chemical stuff today. none of our other fish so far have had a problem, and he was fine until just today (or maybe last night, not sure).

anything you can think of that we can do to help him out?

What about the filters, were they brought over?

Then you are probably in the midst of a fishey cycle.

Did the old filters remain running and not dry out on the old tank? How long has that tank been without fish?

we already took the old tank down, and my boyfriend just told me he threw the old filter away, so i cant do anything about that now. we've had this tank up since last saturday night, and along with the water from the old aquarium we used distilled water to fill it up.

Water change

Do at least a 50% water change ASAP. Test for Ammonia, nitrites, and possibly nitrates if you can. You will need to change water frequently untill the nitrifying bacteria get re-established.
