i never heard tiger barbs eating snails until i seen it with my own eyes. ive got snails in my 30 gal (i put them in) along with tiger and green barbs with a red tail. when ever i see a snail on the water line or on my hood i just smashed them with my finger and they fell down. i was doing this one day i noticed my barbs were fighting over the falling snail that was smashed then my snail population went down to nothing so i put some more snails from my 75 gal tank. sitting there watching them they were pecking at the live snails all of them and killing them. the green were less aggresive but they were haveing at them also.should i worry about my barbs eating snails? never heard of this before. i think the snails are conical shell snails not sure

It won't the barbs at all to eat them, probably good protein. It doesn't surprise me that they eat them. My Tiger Barbs eat everything. I really like those fish.

I have never heard of it but i am not surprised it happend. Tiger barbs eat a lot of things and if they think they can eat a snail they probably would.

I had two snails in a 10g for almost a year. A week after introducing a green tiger barb, the snails were completely devoured.

thanks to all just didnt want to come home to a bunch of dead barbs do to snails guess that will be a snail free tank from here on out

keep adding them they're good protein. if they're numbers are increasing in your larger tank it's a good way to keep them down.
