tiger barbs in a 30?

how many tiger barbs can you stuff in a 30g tank? ive got an open tank, and was thinking theyd be an interesting schooling tank. what do you guys think? i want a tight school unlike the bloodfin tetras i used to keep

I have 5 right now in mine and they don't even really school with each other...they do their own things

Tight wouldn't fit the description of tiger barbs. I'd look into Rummynoses or some Cardinals. If not, check out some of the Rainbowfish.

I agree. I've kept tiger barbs, and many species of tetras, and rummynose are by far the tightest schoolers I've had.

Mine were not especially good schoolers either but you could do 12 if that's all that will be in there. The TBs available don't seem as hardy as years ago, mass breeding maybe.

i have 14 of them in my 55g and they school very tightly.

I had 10-15 in my 30, and they were lots of fun. Not a real tight schooler, but LOTS of activity. I also liked that I could get the white/orange striped version, so I had the same fish, but some color variety. I never was fond of the green.
