I have a 55gal with 3 tiger barbs, 1 rainbow shark and a candy striped pleco. What will get along with these guys and not hide all day? I prefer something not aggressive. I started with 7 barbs -3 died I believe from being harassed by the others and I put 1 in a 10 gal because he wouldn't let up. I believe all deaths were female. What can I add?

Barbs wont go with the gouramis as they will peck their dangly fins 24/7, id say other babs, green tigers are nice, rainbow fish?

Ever thought bout bottom dwellers corys or something, id get them large if you do as the shark was their firs so he may get a lil upset...

I'd say get like 5 more barbs around the same size than your existing ones. If they are in a larger pack they are less aggressive to other fish. My 29gal is a tad over stocked and I have 5 tiger barbs in there and they only chase each other around. I have not seen them nip at any other fish or had any fish without tales recently. Plus they are fun to watch and get super colorful when they are older (mine have super bright red fins/noses).

Don't get serpae tetras though. They are vicious *******s and are far more nippy than any of my barbs were. After 1 day of 4 of them in my tank almost all my 12 tetras (6 glowlight, 6 neons) had big bites in their tales. Took them back to the petstore.
