About twice a week I see my tiger botia in a position that makes me think it's dead and I fall for it everytime. I will walk into the room and see it laying there and my heart will skip a beat, then as soon as I approach the tank it goes upright and takes a swim around the tank like it was no big deal. It has done this forever. Does anyone else have a type of loach that will lay on it's side.

No loach, but my betta does that to me allll the time! It scares me everytime!

Oh yes....I could not stand that. I used to have a clown loach that constantly would just lay there I swear I thought it was dead.

My crazy blue botias used to do that to me all the time. Sometimes I'd even find them laying against a rock upside down. It was the weirdest thing. That and their high-flying tank jumping always kept my heart racing. There was times that I'd find them in a nearby tank happily swimming along tormenting its occupants.

Don't worry, I've heard that loaches do this a lot! =)

Mine never "lay down" on their side but they sit still forever on the stump and just watch the world go by.

I have a Yoyo Loach that does the same thing and it has the same effect on me!

My loaches do it all the time.
