I loved Neil Young's music when I was in high school, had all his lp's (lost them years later in a house flood :-(]. As I grew up in the thick of politics, military and war, I just didn't let things bother me too much. Life is one long hella struggle, and I still thank ol' Neil for his music. Still love it. Rap? It's crap. Just my opinion. He put out so many great tunes.. ..

your right about rap being......
yah there are some great tunes from him durring those years, sorry about the lp's and the HF!what are your favorite songs from him?

Too early to remember all--
durn, all his old stuff (sorry I'm old school) although what I've heard of newer stuff over past few years hold up, too!
Also old Buffalo Springfield work--unparalleled.
And yes, CSNY.
He's opinionated, cantankerous, but one hella musician. And his voice never bothered me--it connects right into the human condition.
AND--this has never been revealed---I had a huuuuuge crush on him in HS. Don't tell anybody!!!!

You guys have all forgot about Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (besides rosita). Ohio is such an incredible song if you listen to what its about. My mother lived 10 min from that college when that happened.
Neil Young is also responsible for one of the greatest rock wars of time with almost all southern rock bands due to his songs Southern Man and Alabama. One of the songs in retaliation that I can think of is Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama. That song as well as others from other southern rock bands where all in retaliation to Neil who for some reason hated the south. Its fun to listen to them all together and pick up on all the lyrics about the others song's.

There is a few other Young song's that I like but the guy is a jerk. Just a thought but if you really want that album you may be able to find the tracks on the net and burn your own.

LOL fish_freak, glad to see someone else knows CSNY. AND the song wars over the south--I was so into lyrics and listened to ol' Neil battle it out with the southern rock bands, as well as listening to a wide variety of other stuff (anyone heard of Django Reindhart, or into old Taj Mahal???) Glad you brought that stuff up!!! What's up with kids these days, wanting to hear mutha this and *itch that and cap you wid my bullet???

I am a HUGE Neil Young and CSNY fan....his music was (and is) important and influential music to me when I was growing up. His CDs I like the most are Rust Never Sleeps, Harvest, and After the Gold Rush (his "Older stuff") and I also like Mirror Ball, which was his collaborative effort with Pearl Jam. (Neil is considered the "Grandfather of Grunge"). All politics aside, his music is stark, honest, with lyrics that can be gentle at times while piercing your heart the next. I'll check out the petition....oh, and by the way...the "war" is over...and never really existed....Ronnie Van Zant was a big Neil Young fan....

WHICH war the lynard skynard south thing or the war in iraq? his old stuff is the best!
