someone on craigslist is giving away a one-gallon tank with hood, light, and airator for free.... i'm wondering- what could a person really do with a tank that tiny?

Not much at all. Every time I've tried using mine for something, it's just been too much of a hassle to keep the water stable. Maybe a temporary holding tank or small QT for little critters. But for actual use? I wouldn't bother to go pick it up.

yeah, that's what i was thinking... i can't imagine a tank like that lol

Maybe a candy jar, or pass on it..........:)

Even when used as a sick tank for small schoolers, they all ended up dying within a day, IME.

I did have a betta in one for almost a year, this was when I was very, very new. Now I wouldn't put one in less than 3 gallons.

BUT, you could do an awesome fishless planted tank. One of those microscapes. I saw a thread here a while back with some really cool ones in even less than 1 g. Some were in like maybe a liter of water.

Look up my sig with the 2 smaller tanks. They are doing awesome even without filtration or air. The idea of hooking it up to a larger body of water for stability is a good one. All you need is 2 hoses, and a powerhead to design something like that.

I might be the only one here that likes small tanks, but they serve a purpose in my home.

I know the best use

smashin practice with a ballpeen hammer and make a youtube vid doing it dressed as a betta as a avant gard expressionist piece to exemplify the rage of a betta in a 1 g
