Hello - I've just finished setting up my 75G freshwater tank today and am letting it cycle for about 2 - 3 weeks before I add fish. The tank, filter (a large HOB), heater (200 watt), powerhead and 1/3 of the stones I bought used. I cleaned everything thouroughly except the rocks. There is also a smaller cave that I put in a few hours ago that I took from my 30G tank (my pleco in the 30G was getting too big for it so I bought him a new one). Lastly there is a small "sagatarria" plant that I also just put in this afternoon that I got from PetSmart. The tank is currently at about 72 degrees, and I'm working on getting it to 78 before I add fish.
I was just feeding my other tanks their food before bed and peeked in the 75G tank because I noticed a couple snails had made their way on the glass. I'm certain they must have been on the cave the I ported over from the 30G, but I figured a clown loach or botia will take care of them in the near future (and NO I am not getting the loach to get rid of the snails, I got a 75G to accomodate a grown clown loach). I noticed what looks like little worms/slugs on the glass too. They're white and are 1/4 of an inch at most, the majority are much smaller than that. There are probably 10 - 20 on all sides of the tank, but I have no idea how many are in the stones. I have never experienced this in setting up a tank.
Does anybody have any idea what these are? Are they going to be harmful to fish, or are they something the fish will eat without harm? I'm glad I noticed them now before I added any fish.
Thanks in advance for any help!
