Hello - I've just finished setting up my 75G freshwater tank today and am letting it cycle for about 2 - 3 weeks before I add fish. The tank, filter (a large HOB), heater (200 watt), powerhead and 1/3 of the stones I bought used. I cleaned everything thouroughly except the rocks. There is also a smaller cave that I put in a few hours ago that I took from my 30G tank (my pleco in the 30G was getting too big for it so I bought him a new one). Lastly there is a small "sagatarria" plant that I also just put in this afternoon that I got from PetSmart. The tank is currently at about 72 degrees, and I'm working on getting it to 78 before I add fish.

I was just feeding my other tanks their food before bed and peeked in the 75G tank because I noticed a couple snails had made their way on the glass. I'm certain they must have been on the cave the I ported over from the 30G, but I figured a clown loach or botia will take care of them in the near future (and NO I am not getting the loach to get rid of the snails, I got a 75G to accomodate a grown clown loach). I noticed what looks like little worms/slugs on the glass too. They're white and are 1/4 of an inch at most, the majority are much smaller than that. There are probably 10 - 20 on all sides of the tank, but I have no idea how many are in the stones. I have never experienced this in setting up a tank.

Does anybody have any idea what these are? Are they going to be harmful to fish, or are they something the fish will eat without harm? I'm glad I noticed them now before I added any fish.

Thanks in advance for any help!

There's been water in the tank for two days, and it's had the PH/Filter/Air pump on for 1 day, and the filter has been on for about 6 hours. Is there anything I can/should do at this point?

FYI - I have a 6" commmon pleco in a hospital tank that came with the used tank I got that I'd like to introduce ASAP... ASAP being early next week hopefully, will these pests have any effect on him?

No biggie. I had them for a little while right after I started with live plants. The fish would eat them when they got out into open water. Sometimes I think I still have a few when I see a clown loach did his head deep in the gravel and click.

I always gravel vac, so they slowly disappeared.

Whew... hopefully this will clear up in a few days, otherwise I may medicate for it (if possible), we'll see...
There is no need to bombard them with chemicals. Don't fix what is not broken. You'll simply wreak havoc on the biological filtration with harmful chemicals.
