I think an "ignore" feature would be nice. That way if someone does not care for someone else's attitude, anything they post just comes up as white background. Its easy enough to implement in a chat environment, but maybe not so easy in forums like these. I'm not familiar enough with Nat to pass judgement, nor do I enjoy being judgemental. But, as OrionGirl stated, if you have to ask if people want you around, maybe you already have your answer.

OG, your last post was very good.

As for the poll, seems like someone digging for attention who couldn't care either way the results, so I didn't vote.

If you go to the persons profile, and at the top of the page you will see Add YYY User to your buddy list, and add YYY user to your ignore list. If you add them to the ignore list you will not see their posts.

I, personally come here for information and to help other. I can be sarcastic, and I have a sense of humor that is a bit odd. I been accused if saying it like I see it and not sugar-coating things. I don't remember being offended by anyone's posts here.

I am new to the forums, I joined AC for its other excellent features, but recently started to realize something about it. There is a lot of excellent information here, but there are also a few people using it for an ego trip. I don't pretend to know everything..... just enough to keep my fish thriving, but from what I've seen lately its been nothing more than petty arguing, popularity contests. I've learned much in a short time, but this isn't helping anyone. If people want to act like this, then argue through PM, the rest of us don't need it. And if I offended people, I apologize, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Heh, well its a good thing mods dont base their actions on user created polls now, isnt it, NT.

And I personally disagree with allowing this type of thread to even exist. But I will not step on others toes who do not mind.

Thank you for not shutting this thread down. The purpose of this thread is not at all pleasing to me, but the outcome is. By allowing people to respond to this thread, it is possibly rectifying the situation for any AC newbies (or oldies) that may have initially been scared off by some of the crusty, abrasive & rude comments that have become more and more common around here lately. It's all too common in this world that we forget to focus on the good in people. That being said I would like to say that I find it refreshing to see so many intelligent people stepping up to the plate making every attempt to keep this place friendly and welcoming. The unintentional outcome of this thread has strongly represented AC in such a positive way. You've certainly made me want to come back and read more.

i'm new here, so i don't know what the problem has been with the original poster. i've been banned from my fair share of forums, sometimes it was warrented, sometimes it was a completely lame reason.

what i dont get is the point of this thread? are you trying to cause conflict? start an argument? are you trying to boost your ego? it seems like a waste of space to me.

To be honest, I think this might go a long way to solving some issues. Someone like Nat who gives good information wrapped in sarcasm could, indeed, rub some people the wrong way. I think the simplest and most appropriate solution is for those people to ignore his posts, either manually or with the use of the ignore feature.

Maybe the ignore feature could be better publicized as a sticky or something so that new posters would be more aware of their ability to filter posters that upset them.

BTW, this thread is far more polite and constructive that I imagined it would be. Nice to see.

Who are you again????????

59 posts and counting.

Whether you love him or you hate him, whether you think this is a stupid thread or not, he's sure given everyone something to talk about. Reminds me of wrestling - everybody loves a heel.

Nat I hate to inflate your ego any further, but it might be time for a Ric Flair wooooo!

"Whether ya like it or ya don't like it, learn to love it, because its the best thing going. Wooooo!" - Ric Flair
