To be SAE or not to be..

That's about the size mine was when I got it, be interesting to see if yours changes too. I see a definate yellow tinge to the dorsal. Really though, my fish has always been pretty good at algae eating & is about 5 inches so not at all bad. Lives with a true sae, kinda pretty in a subtle way.

True SAE. First two pics it is stressed and has dull colors. They're neat fish, but they're even better in groups. I have five, all about 2", and I absolutely cannot wait for them to get full grown.

I guess as long as he keeps up on the algae eating and doesnt get 2 aggressive then i dont care what he is. He will be my little algae solution.
I do not believe SAE's would have problems with the way the behave. They'll be fine, Bk.

I still think it could also be another crossicheilus sp, mine might be too. There's a German or Dutch site that has pics but I can't find it now... Keep an eye on the fin color.

just a small update..

After the fish got settled in, the black line started to show more and actually go through its tail.. But at the same time occasionally it began to show a very faint goldish line right above the black line..
Hes eating good, not harassing tank mates..
Here is a current photo of him:
