Who here bleaches newly acquired plants? If you bleach, what is your reason for bleaching, algae or inverts? Does anyone use a different method of ridding unwantables from their new plants?

I don't bleach. As long as it's not a disease or parasite, it's welcome into my tanks. I have loaches to tend to unwanted snails. I usually float plants going into other tanks in one of my tanks with loaches for a day or two. Algae only becomes a problem if it's given the right environment to do so.
I wouldnt bleach.. use h2o2 or excel or QT the plants. I had a bad experience with bleach and hence from that day on i try and direct ppl away from using bleach.
you can pour it over the plant.. h2o2 breaks down to water so its not harmful to plants. So you can place it directly into the fish tank and have no ill effects (cant be done with bleach)
People actually spot treat algae with h2o2 (believe bba is sensitive to it)

Listen to BK, Hydrogen Peroxide is the way to go. Excel is good for killing BBA, but too expensive for dip treatments.
Is hydrogen peroxide good for only getting rid of algae, or could it also get rid of tiny worms (nematodes)?
