hey there groovy guys and dolls ;)

i have a 10g tank with

2 balloon mollies
2 lyretail mollies
3 kuhli loaches
2 corydoras

and i was considering adding marine salt in a small amount (1 or 2 teaspoons per 5 gallons) for my dear little mollies because i hear they love the stuff. however how will the salt go down with my lovely little loaches and corys at these levels? is it really that benifical for the mollies to have these salts? i haven't tested my water hardness for a while but out of the tap when i last tested it was quite soft and alkaline (7.8ph). at the moment i have peat in the tank lowering the ph to 7.2 (so my corys and kuhlis are more happy). what should i do with the salt? or and i better off getting that blue water contioning salts that up my hardness?

thatnks

If your fish are currently doing fine I think it would be dumb to add salt since they dont need it and it may hurt the other fish

Domestically bred mollies do not need salt at all and your other fish will eventually die from it. Aquarium salt as a substitute for marine salt is a huge no-no. It's not the same thing.

I'd stay away from salt, period.
