To those with 2.5 gallon tanks...

you should see my sisters betta eat its hilarious it actually attacks the food lol it just swims along normally then LUNGES forward grabs a pellet and goes back to swimming normally.

I have a question about food, I bought Nutrafin Betta and noticed that Blue will go for the dried blood worms and ignore the flakes. I have read so many conflicting opinions about what to and not to feed a betta that now I'm lost. Should I just feed blood worms? Should I get pellets? What's the deal?

i dont know whether they have this food where you live but my brother and sister feed their bettas vitapet "betta food" (pellets) and they seem to not only love it but are healthy too.

All of my bettas have been doing good with flakes as a staple, and shrimp (the kind people would eat) and brine shrimp as "treats" to give them anything there not getting from the flakes (usually either food item is fed once or twice a week). Bloodworms should make a good "treat" as well.

Oh, by the way writenlyric, one of my bettas looks just like yours.

yeh my brothers betta looks like yours too (sorry bout the big pic i dont know how to make it smaller)

Thanks for the food comments - I think I'll try the flakes for a little while longer and see how it goes and then if that doesn't work try pellets as a staple. Thanks :)

Salty! It's Blue's long lost cousin!

Use this brand called "hikari Betta pellets" My mom has 3 bettas and they love this food. Blood worms are more of a treat and should be fed only 1-2 times a week.

Yay! I came home today to find that Blue has started building a bubble nest! I apparently made my lil fella happy. He's also started eating - I picked up some pellets and he seems to like them, so I'll skip the flakes and continue with the pellets and a few treats every so often.

This is my 2.5 minibow. :) Currently houses a female betta and coral dwarf platy.

If you stick with the pellets, I recommend Hikari. They can be found almost anywhere (even Wal-Mart) and are much more quality than say, TopFin. The best flake brand you can get locally probably would be Omega One, but my male will not touch them.
