To those with 2.5 gallon tanks...

Phew.. I just bought the Red Nano filter online too to swap out filters. I'm hearing great things about it though, as in it clears the water in a 2.5 really well and most are surprised by the increase in clarity when the swap out for one.

Humm...here's one reason to bring back the edit button for long term,
when I said "No filter at this time, but the light produces lots of heat...."
I meant "no HEATER at this time, but the light produces lots of heat...." :o

hey everyone!!! ok... i was wondering why your 2.5 gallon tanks look sooo much bigger than my 2.5 gallon bowl??? don't they both hold the same ammount of water?? lol. and i was wondering can i keep... 2 ghost shrimp and my betta in a 2.5 gallon bowl? along with an aquatic plant? but... the thing is.. i don't have those fluorescent lights hanging over my bowl... wud that be a problem if i keep a plant in there?

I keep these plants in this little 2.5 gallon tank with a tiny little 7watt incandescent bulb....it does get a little sunlight, not directly..but enough that I think it helps some....but still, not much lighting on this tank at all. Depends on what type of plant you want to put in there. Anubias nana, water sprite, java fern are all plants that can do well with low lighting. Cryptocyrenes as well.

Hrmm, maybe it's the shape that's causing the look in size difference. That and the fact that the pics (at least mine) are only of the tank, making it appear massive when it's really not. When I opened the box for the 2.5 mini bow I was actually surprised because I thought it would be a lot smaller.

Also, ghost shrimp and bettas can sometimes cohabitat but depending on the temperment of your guy, he may snack upon them.

Hey 2.5 mini-bow people, Question. What wattage heater do you use. I have a 7.5 watt that is preset. It's keeping the temp at 80. I'm ok with that for the fry I have now but not ok with the quarantined adults I plan to get. Ideas?

I think there may be small heaters. you would have to look around for them though.

The smallest submersible heater I could find is a Hydor Theo 25 watt that is 7" long. It works great!

Apparantly Hagen makes a mini-submersible heater that is 6" but I could not find it anywhere.
