After a day of the fry swimming out of control and all over the place, it was assuring to see that the female has them completely under control. The male, dispite being on the divided half of the tank, continues to assist in herding the fry when they slip over into his side.

Whoa nice pix! How many fry are there, and how big?

How is your jag doing?

Managuense typically will have several hundred fry at a clip. Not sure if you are asking about the fry or the parents. The parents are still juveniles...male is 7", female 5".

All of the fish are doing well. I have several Managuense...the largest being Jumbo.

stunning pix. good luck with them all.

nice sharp photos.

lots of fry there to keep them busy :)

Will all the fry survive and grow into fish?

No. Generally they are at the top of the food chain in whatever water they occupy. It's an interesting observation in that Parachromis tend to have a LOT of fry. You would expect that nature would automatically deal them a "smaller hand" and give them less fry. The predation on their fry must be extremely high in wild. Otherwise their would be a lot more big predators and a lot less smaller cichlids.

Thanks for the props.
