Do you carry a firearm or anything just in case an alligator gets too brave?

I take a diving knife with me and that's about it. Unlike gators in areas with higher populations, the gators in northern Alabama tend to be timid around people.I still don't let it get closer than 20 feet though.

You should have carried the cotton mouth and hand fed it to the gator... it would become nice and friendly then!

You are supposed to feed 'em arn't you!
