too many laxatives?

I bought some epsom salts for Magnesium fertilizer for my plants, but I also know its a laxative, to people and fish. Is it healthy for the fish to have epsom salts in the tank all the time? the bottle says "frequent use may cause constipation". I can't see it being comftorable for the fish to always have bowel problems, just to have some nice plants.
also, if I use the epsom salts should I discontinue feeding the fish skinned peas occasionaly, since they are a laxative too? right now they get them about once every week or two (along with dry food and other fresh stuff). what about foods that make them constipated (certain types of worms etc, I forget which ones). thanks for any feedback

To use MgSO4 as a laxative for constipated fish, you need to add quite a bit. Maintaining a low level in the tank to fertilize the plants shouldn't hurt the fish, but it is an interesting question. Maybe someone else has more information.

thanks blinky. I was feeling reasured until I read more on the plant forum, which sugests useing Fleet Enema (KH2PO4 for Phosphate fertilizer). fleet is also a heavy duty laxative, and frankly now I'm really worried about adding that to the water as well. does anyone else have experience useing these products for plants and fish?
