Too much flow?

Hey guys, I added my fish to my 10 gal marine setup. It's the only thing in there along with the live rock and sand and some crabs.

My question... the fish seems to have to work extra hard to fight the flow from my powerhead. The powerhead is rated at 170 GPH... I figured with the difference from the rating and actual, 14 or 15 X turnover would be fine. What levels do you guys use... and if it IS too high, then is there any way to lower it other then going out and buying a new one?
 
Try creating random flow by having two small powerheads pointed against each other or converging on a single point.

Fish and corals generally prefer random rather than laminar (unidirectional) flow.

They can still test themselves against the current by swimming right in front of the powerheads.
 
How come nobody asked what kind of fish it was yet? hahahaha.

What kind of fish is it?

You can point hte powerhead from the back corner to the middle of the front glass, that way the "fish" can swim in it if he wants and go in less current spots if it would like a rest.
 
lol, it's a true percula clownfish.

Thanks for all the replies guys... he seems to have adjusted pretty well... maybe he was just spazzy from getting moved to a new tank.

I'll have to look into trying the two powerhead thing... only problem is that the I have another of the 170 GPH powerheads... but two of them probably wouldn't be better. So I'd have to find two smaller powerheads. Oh well... doesn't seem as urgent now that the fish is doing better ;)
