Sounds like a good buy to me. A good wooden stand for a 55gal runs about $100 in this neck of the woods.

what you should do is price hunt around your are before buying and get the best deal, that's how to know a good deal.

In los angeles you can get a wooden open stand, glass 60 gallon tank, lid and light all for $100.00!
Sounds very good to me. The 55 gallon tanks in my lfs for some reason were more then my 72g tank that I got there.
