took the snail-o plunge...

Haha ok thanks once again fishycat! Good advice, I will definitely give that a try. That's going for all food I give to my snails I assume...

Zucchini slices should be safe ;)

Nice shrimp. Does the Bamboo shrimp just pick at it with her fans?

Pretty much. When I first got the shrimp I had a lot of thread algae in the tank and it spent most of its time combing the algae with its fans. I wasn't sure if it was eating the algae or cleaning stuff off it...

It does seem to like the snail-o a lot...

Incredible shots! Would love to get shots like that.

Maybe you could do an instructional video. ;)

I found my shrimp went more bonkers over it than the snails did. But once the snails overwhelmed the area..it was every invert for themselves.

Gosh, thanks! Actually, back in the '90s I periodically used to teach course on aquarium photography. I got out of it for a decade and have just been getting back into it lately. The technology has changed amazingly...but the techniques are still the same.

The shrimp definitely like the snail-o and the tylo likes it a lot! The nerites couldn't care less.

I used rep-cal, which is phosphorus-free. It has vitamin D though, not that it should be a problem. Next time I might grind-up some cuttlebone with a mortar & pestle and use that instead.

what camera and lens are you using? I need good pics for my presentations and the lens I am using just isn't cutting it.

Got a question, would i be able to use repti-vite for the calcium powder?

You could pick up a generic brand of calcium citrate (usually 500 mg) from your local drugstore. Probably cheaper, unless you already have the repti-vite.

I ground up 5 pills for my snello, worked great! I used the baby food that comes in those rectangular tubs, I think they're 4 oz each so I just used both with 1 packet of gelatin. Very popular stuff! :D
