Top 10 best beginner community fish

I don't think the first post is suggesting each of those fish in one tank at all.

They simply want a list of easy to keep fish to choose from.

I'd vote against mollies because they have a pretty high bioload for a small fish, plus they breed like rabbits.

I wasn't suggesting that as a stock list. The thread title is the top 10 beginner fish for a community tank. My recommendations were based on how easy they are to take care of. Most of our lists are similar to each other.

My stock list for a 29 that I am setting up is:

18 Neon Tetra
1 pair of blue rams
6 panda cories
6-12 Red Cherry Shrimp

Sorry for the confusion - I put this out here after reading an article entitled "10 worst community fish." Figured this would give us all something to talk about (and it looks like it has...). Interesting to get different folks opinions on what fish are good beginner fish.

FWIW, my tank is up and running and I have my future stocking somewhat planned already. I posted an update thread in here yesterday.

I agree with others lists that took out guppies. They have been so inner bred over the years that they have horrible genetics and bad immune systems. Gourami should not be on the list as they are aggressive. I started with those and they chased everything in the tank. BN pleco's are a good starter fish I think. They seem to be super hardy and never pick on other fish. But the bioload can be high if people overstock the tank or don't maintain it.

^, for gouramis, it depends on which type u get, and what fish u keep it with. Also, I agree with the guppy thing unless u buy true fancy guppies like the black moscow guppies, those r healthier, etc. I love BNs too.:)
