Top Fin or Aqua Clear?

I guess its AC now, and yeah i like overfiltering too, i always use 2x the power, like on my 10gal i had 2x 20g AC one on each side, this one is gonna be 2x 30gal on on each side. Right now my 30gal tank is just using the 2x 20gal AC from my 10gal but will be replacing soon.

Thanks

AQUACLEAR!
:dance2:

I have an aquaclear filter and I love that I can change the filter media to whatever i want and not have to deal with messy cartridges. both the aquaclear and the top fin come with carbon. but the aquaclear carbon comes in a separate pouch that you can easily just throw away if you dont want it. whereas the top fin cartridges come with the carbon already in the cartridge. so you have to sit there and dump the carbon out....it's messy and a PITA! I have live plants so I dont want carbon in my filter.

I've always liked the design of aquaclears. It filters very well. Btw, you should get one or two sizes larger than the filter specifies. Sorry if that's already been mentioned.

Get the AquaClear. You have a lot more flexibility with what filter media you use with that filter. Just rinse that sponge out every month or so. Don't follow the manufacturer's suggestion and replace that sponge every three months like they say, it only needs to be replaced if it starts falling apart. My last one lasted for four years before it fell apart.

Remember to use old tank water, because tap water has chlorine in it which can kill fish.

Another idea is get a bucket of old tank water and wash the sponges in there.

yup, I do mine after I gravel vac, in the first bucket, that way if any debris comes out of the bucket, I can still vac it up on the next bucket
